Vicki M, Santa Rosa, CA.
Dear Dr. Gail How come my dog's nose is never cold and wet? It's dry and warm but she seems to be feeling good!
Dear Vicki:
I am happy to hear that your dog is feeling good!
Most people think that a dog’s nose tells you if it is sick or not. In truth, the temperature and wetness of a dog’s nose has more to do with the environment that a dog is in, and whether it has licked its nose recently.
If your house is warm and dry, your dog’s nose will probably be the same.
You might want to check and see what her nose is like after you’ve gone for a walk on moist and cool day. You might be surprised.
Dr. Gail
